I've been wanting to make a candy cane wreath with some red and white burlap I had. I didn't like the small foam candy wreath forms. I decided to use a pool noodle. The only problem was how to keep the shape. I tried floral wire, etc. and then my husband said why don't you just use a coat hanger? Brilliant!! It worked perfectly.
It all started with a pool noodle!
I cut about six inches off the pool noodle, and then ran the heaviest coat hanger I could find through the middle. I had to bend it in about four or five places at the top until I got the shape I wanted.
I cut the burlap in strips about six inches wide. Using floral pins I started at the side, bunched up the burlap and then added a floral pin. I went at an angle to make the stripes.
This project did take lots of floral pins.
Here's an up close of the pins. After I finished each row, I "fluffed" each piece. I did have to place the pins at angle, because this noodle was hollow and I wanted to make sure they were secure.
Here is a completed photo, but before I added the bow. I really wanted to add a green burlap bow, but can't find green anywhere! So I just used some of the fabric I had left over from my Christmas pillows.
I found the cute little Christmas flower and candy cane appliques at Hobby Lobby and added those on the bow. I am going back to buy more of the flowers. I love them.

I love this Kathy! The candy cane shape and look is amazing. Those poodle noodles are so great for wreath making, aren't they?
I love it! I've used a pool noodle to make a regular circle wreath but I would have never thought to use it this way. :)
Kathy, I didn't even know you could get red burlap! This is adorable. You always make such cute-cute things!
This looks GREAT Kathy! Great work!

Oh, thank you so much! I found the red burlap the other day, but I can't find green anywhere. I went back to get some more of the red and they were out already. Boo Thank you so much for stopping by. :)
Thank you so much, and thanks for the great party! Have a wonderful week. :)
I found green burlap at Hobby Lobby and used my 40%off coupon. Course it might depend on the area whether they have it or not. Also saw it at Jo-Ann's.
Your candy cane is absolutely incredible. You must have alot of patience to do all that with the burlap. The bow you used is a gorgeous contrast on the candy cane.
Happy Thanksgiving.
Very lovely and unique way to fold the burlap. I like it a lot!! Happy Thanksgiving to you. Linda
Kathy,
that is SO darn cute! I never would have thought of that. Thanks so much for sharing on Super Sweet Saturday.

Kathy,
I just found your blog and love it! I'll be sticking around!
Where did you buy the burlap for your candy cane wreath? Also, how wide is it? Thank you for all your help and information.
Jane
This Candy Cane wreath caught my eye immediately! What a gorgeous wreath! Thank you for taking the time to explain how to make it, can't wait to get started on this!! Just love creative minds!!
How much burlap did you use on your candy cane wreath? It so lovely, I really want to try my hand at it. It is gorgeous!!
Sharyn
This is so cute!! I'm wondering if, instead of using floral pins, you could hot glue the burlap onto the noodle. Great job! I just love this!! =)
If you have a Walmart near you, they will order any color you want in the crafts dept. You gave to pay first, but they will order it and you can pick it up there.
