Mother's Day Organizer Part Two

Here is the Part Two of the Mother's Day recipe and magazine clippings album that I promised a few weeks ago.  If you missed Part One of the inside of the album, you can see that post here.  I shared how I covered the album, and what I included on the inside to organize favorite articles and clippings.

DIY Storage Organizer for Magazine clippings, Mother's Day gift idea

I made the flowers from the same fabric that I used to cover the album.  To make sure I had the exact color white for the flowers, I simple used the back side of the printed fabric.

DIY Storage Organizer for Magazine clippings , fabric

To make the flowers, I cut 4 inch wide strips of fabric about 12 inches long.  I used a slightly larger piece of fabric for the flower on the bottom.

Fold the fabric piece in half and very tightly sew the sides together.

I continually  gathered the fabric on the thread as I sewed the piece together.

It begins to form the rosette as the fabric is bunched together.

Once I reached the end of the fabric, I stitched the end piece together and tied off the thread.

I also put a few stitches in the middle of the flower to hold it together and keep its shape.

I glued the flowers onto the album using my glue gun.  Here is what they looked like before I added the buttons.

DIY Fabric organizer, tutorial, how to, rosettes

I have a huge collection of my grandmother's old buttons, so I dug through those until I found two that worked with the fabric.  That just gave it an extra special touch!

Here is a close up of the first flower.  I wish I could have found two of those buttons.

I had to go with this button for the second flower.  All of those blue buttons, and this was the only other one I could find that worked!

I thought it still needed something else, so I added the blue ribbon.  I also placed a piece of scrapbooking applique on the ribbon.  My daughter said the applique needs to go!  It's there to stay unless I find something else to replace it.   LOL

DIY Storage Organizer using library pockets and binder

Here is one more look at the inside of the album.  I added many clear protectors to each section.  I have some blue folders  to put in the back for extra storage.

More than a week later, I am finally sharing the final project.  I am so  sorry it has taken me this long to get it posted.   Have a wonderful week, and thank you so much for stopping by for a visit!
