Valentine's Day Heart Wreath Tutorial

Hi, friends!  Today I am sharing my Valentine's Day wreath that I made to add to a picture frame.

During Christmas, I removed my skeleton keys from my picture frame and added the wreath below.  You can see the original pictures with the keys here.    I loved it with the frame, and after Christmas I decided I wanted to make a Valentine's Day wreath to use with the frame.

Because I could not find a heart shaped wreath in the size I wanted, I had to make one.  Once again, I used Poly Foam to make the heart form because I am fresh out of pool noodles.  :)

I've made faux cupcakes and lollipop ornaments using the poly foam.

alt rel=nofollow

I cut 2 pieces about 2 feet each and ran a hanger through each piece.

alt="Valentine's Day heart wreath tutorial"

Once I had the wire in the foam, I wired the 2 pieces together with more floral wire.  Because the foam is very light weight, I wrapped it with my bright and shiny silver Duck Tape to give it stability.

alt="Valentine's Day heart wreath tutorial"

The next step was to wrap the wreath in the satin fabric that I had left over from my Christmas pillow decor.

alt="Valentine's Day heart wreath tutorial"

The above photo shows the direction I was going with the wreath first, but decided to change it because it didn't work with the frame I was placing it in.

alt="Valentine's Day heart wreath tutorial"
Instead, I cut 2 strips of the satin fabric about 4 inches wide, and gathered it on the wreath.  I pinched the fabric together and used red pipe cleaners to tie it to the wreath.   The next step was to make bows out of the white tulle and glue them on the wreath.

alt="Valentine's Day heart wreath tutorial"

Using my glue gun, I glued the flowers inside the bows.  I also gathered up the corners of the tulle to make the bow more of a circle.

alt="Valentine's Day heart wreath tutorial"

To finish it off, I added a few strands of pearls and a white tulle bow.

alt="antique skeleton key"

Just to be very sappy, I also added an antique skeleton key.  After all, it is a Valentine's Day wreath.  :)

alt="Valentine's Day heart wreath tutorial"

Here it is with the frame.  I am still using my bow pillow with the snowflake for my winter decor, so the wreath matches it perfectly.

Thank you so much for stopping by!  I hope you all have a wonderful week.
