DIY Valentine's Felt Roses Topiary

Hi, everyone!  I finally had some time this weekend to work on some Valentine's decor.  I made these Valentine's topiaries using wiffle balls.  I bought these at the Dollar Tree last summer, and never did get around to making the flower balls that I saw on Pinterest.  I also had lots of red felt that I planned on using for Christmas projects, but that didn't happen either!  I had purchased the little mini urns at an estate sale a long time ago, and wanted to do something with them.

So I decided to make a felt rose topiary using the felt and wiffle balls.

alt="Life on Lakeshore Drive DIY Valentine's Felt Roses Topiary"

I used about 8 sheets of felt and lots of glue sticks.

alt="Life on Lakeshore Drive DIY Valentine's Felt Roses Topiary"

I cut the felt into about 3 inch circles.  They definitely weren't perfect circles.  I trimmed all of the edges when I finished gluing them all in the ball.

Because I wasn't sure if the white would show through,  I put 2 coats of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Emperor's Silk on them.   I would have used spray paint, but I used all my red during Christmas.  Now that it's completed, the paint was not necessary.

alt="Life on Lakeshore Drive DIY Valentine's Felt Roses Topiary"

I folded the circles in half, and then rolled it up.  I added hot glue all the way around the point, and placed it in the hole.

TIP:  I sat the ball on an old bracelet to keep it from rolling around.  This made it so much easier to work with.

Now to take care of all the bare spots.  I followed the same steps except I cut off the end of each piece and just glued them to the ball.  Once I was finished, there was no part of the ball showing through.

alt="Life on Lakeshore Drive DIY Valentine's Felt Roses Topiary using wiffle tutorial"

I hot glued a skewer into the center of the ball, and wrapped it in ribbon.  Then I added a strand of pearls.

I had bought the red Crystal Dazzlers at Hobby Lobby a few weeks ago, and they worked perfect for the base.  The last step was to add the bow to the urn.

Here's a view from the top.

This was an easy project to make after all the circles were cut out.  The second one went much faster, because I had it figured out how I wanted it to look.  Of course, I always manage to burn my fingers every time I touch my glue gun.

Thank you so much for stopping by for a visit!  I am always happy to hear from you.  I hope you have a wonderful week.
