Christmas Lollipop Ornament Tutorial

Hi, friends!  Today I am sharing a super quick and easy way to make Christmas lollipop ornaments or home decor.  Earlier in the fall, I shared my faux fall cupcakes.  You can see that post here and why I have so much of this foam.   I used the same foam to make these lollipops.

alt="DIY Christmas Lollipop Ornaments"

I used Poly Foam Caulk Saver to make these ornaments.   You need heavy gauge floral wire, Krylon spray paint for plastic, ribbons, and glitter or glitter pens.  I used both in addition to Sanford Paint Pens.

alt rel=nofollow

Before we get started, let me tell you one of the best things about this cute little project.  A bag of this foam in my area cost $3.25.  One of those cute lollipops in a Christmas store I saw this summer sold for almost $30.00 each!!  Depending on the size you make, you can make a lot of them for a fraction of the cost.  Now let me show you just how easy this project is to make.  You can make one in less than a minute or two.  Start with heavy floral wire.  I'm sorry I don't know what gauge mine was, but it was a package I purchased at Hobby Lobby.

alt="DIY Christmas Lollipop Ornaments"

I found that starting with a slanted edge works best.

alt="DIY Christmas Lollipop Ornaments Tutorial"

The first step is to begin rolling up the foam very tightly.  That's the hardest step.  Once you are happy with the shape, start pushing the wire through it.

alt="DIY Christmas Lollipop Ornaments Tutorial"

As you come to the other side, pull the wire all the way back through the circle to add your next layer.

alt="DIY Christmas Lollipop Ornaments Tutorial"

Keep rolling until you reach the desired size you want.  I made all sizes to give you an idea of what each will look like.

alt="DIY Christmas Lollipop Ornaments Tutorial"

Once you have the size you want, snip the wire, leaving just enough to bend and push back into the foam.  This holds it very securely.

alt="DIY Christmas Lollipop Ornaments Tutorial"

Here's a tip if you want to use these for ornaments.  Just leave the wire longer, and make a loop at the top.  I added a skewer for the stick.  You could also use popsicle sticks or pipe cleaners.

                                   alt="DIY Christmas Lollipop Ornaments Tutorial"

There you have it!  The last part is decorating!  I really want to get more elaborate with mine when I have time.  I used Krylon Spray Paint for Plastic and Folk Art paint, and they both  stayed with no peeling.    If they only would  make this foam in pretty colors! Sigh

Here are the lollipops I have made so far.  If I can find the time, I really want to make a wreath using these along with some gingerbread ornaments.

alt="DIY Christmas Lollipop Ornaments Tutorial"

Here's the close up photos of each one.  The white one actually has glittery glue on it, and is really very pretty.  Sorry the glitter doesn't show up well in the photo.  My work schedule, a new camera, and the time change is making it difficult for me to get my photos done.

alt="DIY Christmas Lollipop Ornaments Tutorial"

I was having so much fun once I got going I decided to make a  few Christmas "cupcakes" for my mini cupcake stands.

alt="DIY Christmas Lollipop Ornaments Tutorial"

alt="DIY Christmas Lollipop and Ornaments Tutorial"

 I just set my planter inside a wreath, and I had an instant centerpiece.  I do want to add a few more lollipops and gingerbread men.

alt="DIY Christmas Lollipop Ornaments Tutorial"

I hope you have enjoyed my easy lollipop tutorial!  I've had so much fun with this, that I am planning on using the foam to make a Christmas tree.  I just need more time in the day!  I still have so many projects that I want to get completed before Christmas, but time is flying by!  Thank you so much for visiting.  I know everyone's time is so valuable this time of year.
