Chocolate Chip Cheese Ball

The Christmas cooking is over, but New Year's Eve will be here soon.  I want to share a recipe that I make on New Year's Eve.  I actually make this one for both Christmas and New Year's Eve.   It is so easy to make, and so richly delicious!!

Here's the ingredients you will need.  Plus graham crackers to spread it on!

Chocolate Chip Cheese Ball

1 pkg. 8 oz. Philadelphia Cream Cheese
1 stick of butter
1/4 tsp. vanilla
2 Tbs. packed brown sugar
3/4 cup of confectioners powdered sugar
1 pkg. of mini semisweet chocolate chips (3/4 cup in recipe)  Use the remaining to add as topping.
*Optional pecans

Soften the cream cheese and butter.  Beat cream cheese, butter, and vanilla until fluffy.
.  Add brown sugar and powdered sugar, and beat until mixed well.
Stir in 3/4 cup chocolate chips.
Chill for several hours or until firm.  Shape into ball.
Roll the cheese ball in the remaining semisweet chocolate chips or chopped pecans.

For another yummy version, I have a friend who uses crushed Butterfingers instead of the chocolate chips.

Serve with graham crackers.

Mix ingredients.

                                                              Stir in the chocolate chips.

I wrap the mixture in wax paper, and place it in a bowl to chill.  It makes it much easier to remove, and shape into a ball.  After several hours, remove and add the chocolate chips or pecans.  Serve the graham crackers!  YUMMY!!  I have eaten way more than my share over the past few days!  :)

I usually do a much better job of adding the chips, but my company was arriving as I was finishing up!  No more time for picture perfect cheese balls.

What are your New Year's Eve plans?  We always keep ours very simple and low-key.  I usually make our favorite snack foods, watch movies and at midnight we go around the block to my in-laws to watch fireworks.  One of their neighbors puts on a fireworks display that rivals our town's Fourth of July fireworks. This man goes all out, and it is always spectacular.

YUMMY looking. I will have to try that for my after Christmas get together.
Usually stay up and watch the ball drop as I am no longer in NYC to do it in person.
Thanks for sharing.

This looks amazing Kathy. You know, I've never thought of a sweet cheese ball but it makes sense. Just like a cheesecake but a dip. Can't wait to try it. Thanks so much for linking up at Thriving on Thursday. I'm featuring this one tomorrow. Hope to see you again real soon.
