Simple Tulle Wreath

Today  I wanted to share with you the tulle wreath that I made for daughter's room.  I used the comforter colors in purple, teal, and gold.

To make sure the foam wreath didn't show through, the first thing I did was to wrap the entire wreath in a deep purple ribbon.  After that, I just started tying knots.  Lots of them.  The whole wreath took less than an hour, once I had the tulle cut.  This is such an easy wreath to make and add lots of color to a blank wall.

It seems we always learn what not to do from each project we make.  If you decide to make a tulle wreath, tie the knots looser than I did in a few places.  If you look closely, you can see that one gold one that is too tight.    Another reason I 'm glad I added the purple ribbon before I started.   The other huge NO NO that I will never do again is use tulle with glitter in it!!  I cleaned up glitter for days, not to mention how much I  sparkled from head to toe.  :)

She picked out the peacock feathers to use on it.  I found the cute purple flower at Hobby Lobby.  I added several layers of bows and then hot glued the bows and flower to the wreath.  I just stuck the feathers under several layers of the tulle up the side of the wreath.

I really want to make one of these using fall colors.  I have seen some really pretty ones on Pinterest here lately.   We decided this one has a Mardi Gras look to it, but it matches her room perfectly.

Speaking of my daughter's room, we have a major dilemma in there.  The reason the photos were taken outside is because her light bulb is burned out.  I know.....it should be no big deal.  Here's the problem....

The highest point in her room is 15 feet.  My hubby climbed to the very top of a six foot ladder and still couldn't reach it.  There's some complicated way to remove the bulb at the very top of the globe.   As I was standing there holding the ladder, I thought there's no way I could catch him if he fell.  One of the moments, when you realize that was a very dumb idea!!  I was so relieved when he was back on the ground.  So for now, we are thankful for those five light bulb floor lamps.  When we come up with a solution to this very irritating problem, I want to share her room with you.  We are getting very close to completion in one room anyway.

Just to show you the difference between photos taken outside and photos in a pretty dark room, I will leave you with one last photo of the wreath on her wall.

Thank you so much for stopping by friends!  I am so thankful for all of the wonderful friends I have made blogging.  That's the best part of blogging.  I am always inspired by the creativity of my wonderful fellow blog friends.  I love visiting with each and every one of you!

                                                                     Kathy

This is gorgeous. I love making wreaths.

So pretty! Love the colors and the feathers! When I was 14 my room was purple and this would have looked awesome in it. Wonder if I can convince the hubby to let me paint our bedroom purple? Sigh....probably not.....

Kristie said...

Beautiful colors! I am a big fan of the color purple in all its hues. Those ceiling fans make it almost impossible to change bulbs when they are up so high. It's a dangerous job! :)

Danni@SiloHillFarm said...

Kathy that is just stunning! Love the peacock colors too. I'm not a glitter girl either just because of the mess. I tend to use sparkly gems instead.

Wendy's World 82 said...

I love it. Those feathers make it. Can you get an extension pole and lower the whole fan? I'm no electrician so I don't know but I've seen fans dropped down with long extension poles. I love the wreath. Makes me want to make one.

Thank you so much! So happy to link up. Thanks for the invite and for hosting. :)

Thank you! I love making wreaths, too. I still have the coffee filter wreath on my list. :)

Thank you so much for stopping by.

Thank you so much! I am so glad I can still have fun with the purple. I'm still working on my hubby for a blue bedroom. HA

Thank you so much for stopping by!

Thank you! I have sure enjoyed decorating with purple even if it is in my daughter's room. :)

Thinking it's time to call in a crane on the light. :)

Thank you so much for stopping by.

Aww, thank you! That glitter was such a mess. Gems are a great idea. Hey, I got busy and intended on replying to our last email. If you every come this way, we have to meet up. Hope you're having a great weekend. :)

Unknown said...

Thank you! The problem seems to be latches at the top of the globe that are unreachable. Think it's time to call in the pros. LOL

I really want to make a fall wreath using the tulle. It was so easy to do. Thank you so much for stopping by. HUGS

I just love this. The colors are just gorgeous. Love how you added the layers of bows. Thanks for sharing. We have the same problem in our living room with a ceiling fan and light bulbs. Its right in the peak of the ceiling. Let us know you solve this problem. LOL

What a lucky daughter you have:) This is just beautiful and I love the idea of the peacock feathers. And I love purple also:) I think they sell a extended arm for changing light bulbs that are out of reach but I don't think that will help with that one because of the globe. It would be sad to buy a fifteen foot ladder for one light bulb. But maybe a neighbor has one???

Love the purple hues and what a beautiful wreath! You know I had to pin this on my "Purple Hues" board! Hooray for Purple!!!

I love this! I think I may have to make one for my daughter's room too! I have always wondered how the heck the lightbulbs get changed on those really high ceilings. I hope you find a safe solution soon.

Kathy, That is just the coolest wreath! I think it looks Mardi Gra as well! I love this idea, I am going to try it out. Did you know that you can buy an extensuion pole for the fan? It would lower the fan and light down how ever long you bought the pole. It might be something to look into at the home improvement store. Be careful and nobody fall!
Blessings,
Susie
