Scrabble Sports Frame & Baseball Wreath

Trying to decorate a college age student's room can be so difficult. Since my son actually lives in a rental house while at college, he took his bed and belongings with him. When we moved into our house, I wanted to make his room still feel like home.

He is a sports fanatic majoring in sports journalism. He also loves his Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers. When he left for college, he took his seriously falling apart Cowboys comforter with him. He wouldn't let me buy him a new even though I tried. Guess what's on his bed now? Yep, a new Cowboys comforter. I can't wait to see if he tries to take it with him when he returns to school in the fall! :)   Anyway, I decided to go with a sports theme in his room.  I came up with the idea to use Scrabble tiles to make a sports related picture for his desk.

I actually started out using this polka dotted paper, but decided he really wouldn't care for the polka dots. :)

This is such a quick, easy way to add a little team spirit to your home!

Since he was a baseball player, I also added a baseball wreath with his number on it.  The "girly" side of me is fighting the urge to add a bow on there somewhere.   I think I see cutting up that Rangers towel in the near future to add to the wreath!!!!

baseball wreath, baseball wreath tutorial, how to make a baseball wreath

I was so lucky that one of my student's dad is a college baseball coach.  I told him if he ever had some old baseballs to dispose of, I would gladly take them off his hands.  To my excitement, the next day my sweet student brought me a bag full of baseballs.  Isn't that the life of a DIYer?  I was so excited to have a bag full of old, very used baseballs!!!!  LOL    I also bought some new ones to mix in with the "not so gently" used baseballs.  It gave it more of a rugged look.  My son loved it!

A little piece of info for anyone who wants to make a baseball wreath.  The new practice balls were not to difficult to drill through, but those real baseballs are a pain to drill all the way through.  My wrist was sore the next day.  The wreath is very heavy, so make sure it is securely attached to the wall.

I have a few more baseball projects to share, and the Annie Sloan Chalk Painted furniture.  From the looks of this college student's room at the moment,  I won't be posting that until he goes back to school.

I hope you've enjoyed the sport projects.  I appreciate you stopping by more than you will ever know!!!  Have a blessed and wonderful week.
